Notes*
1. 144.000 through 144.500 Mhz and 145.500 through 146.000 Mhz is excluded from repeater inputs or outputs by FCC Rule. This includes digital repeaters such as D-Star and P25.
2. 145.500 through 145.600 Mhz is open territory. We've seen it used for SSTV, digital, FM simplex, etc. Have fun, no repeaters!
3. 145.700 through 145.800 was previously under utilized by packet and coordinated by NCPA. It has been re-assigned, deal with it! It's time we corralled all of those simplex IRLP and Echolink nodes and made a home for them along with some space for digital voice simplex.
4. 146.535 through 146.595 used to be designated as FM simplex. There is still plenty of FM simplex space for use during a major disaster. Including the inputs and outputs of those repeaters that will be off the air when the big one hits!
5. 147.525 through 147.595 see note above. Also note that there is a somewhat high level FM repeater that uses 147.000 for an output and 146.400 as an input. There are a couple of other repeaters that use 147.000 as an output and 147.600 as an input. Move your inputs to 146.400!
NCPA will still manage 440 Khz of spectrum for "Packet" use. Keyboard, BBS, TCP/IP, DX Spotting, etc. Note that they currently use 20khz channel spacing when 15 should be more than adequate. We encourage the packet community to give some thought to their plan.
NARCC coordinates the repeater sub-bands. Their is much debate about channel spacing, narrow-band channels etc. Eventually the trend will be towards narrow-band, probably 12.5 khz. NARCC needs to create a long term plan that will benefit from the new technology, analog and digital. Nothing in our plan precludes NARCC from accommodating digital repeaters and coordinating them.

The United States Code of Federal Regulations, Title 47, Chapter 1, Part 97, Section 97.205(b) states: "A repeater may receive and retransmit only on the 10 m and shorter wavelength frequency bands except the 28.0-29.5 MHz, 50.0-51.0 MHz, 144.0-144.5 MHz, 145.5-146.0 MHz, 222.00-222.15 MHz, 431.0-433.0 Mhz, and 435.0-438.0 Mhz segments." |
